Moe's Not A Soldier!

The title is a repeated title of Moe's Not A Servant!

Is There An "Alive Sea?"

My brother came up with this strip (mostly).

1/22/11

Using Those To Hide Is Cheating!!

My first punch line of the strip was actually more like the title of this post. Julia's expression in the first panel looks like she's playing this game against her will.

1/21/11

Is There Such A Thing As A Good Threat?

My brother came up with this strip - word-for-word (I added Moe's smile in the last panel, but that's not a word, so technically I'm right).

Earthlings are the Odd Ones

It took me a little while to think of an opening line for Charlie that would make the alien say what it says in the first panel.

1/19/11

Wrestle

I was originally going to put legs on the alien, but then I realized they'd be useless, since Uranus is a gas giant and doesn't have any solid ground.

Look For Subtlety...

There are several subtle things I put in this strip. For example, Moe seems to be ignoring the fact that Charlie is talking to Julia. So I shifted the frame in the third panel to remove Julia from our view. Also, I've noticed that, when parents do what I've shown Charlie doing here, the kids seem to portray them as being closer than they are. So in Charlie's experience, he's his real distance. In Moe's experience, though, I scooted the monster closer to Moe. Then there's the talk bubbles. In the adults' experience, Charlie's talk bubble overlaps Moe's. But in the kids' experience, Moe's talk bubble overlaps Charlie's. Can you think of any other subtle things I added?

How Did He Get There?

This is the fourth time I have researched actual photos of animals to draw a cartoon animal. The first three times were for the quick brown fox, Nerm, and Nemo. I've noticed that, each successive time I draw the latter two, they seem to get more and more cartoony–I remove some things, I move some things, I make subtle changes, etc. Each link above shows the character's first appearance after I sketch the real animal.

Never Assume

It took me a little while to think of what Moe would be doing that could be assumed as something different.

Yay, Another Parenting Tip!

I haven't done any Parenting Tips since July!

1/4/11

...Then You WOULD Be Crazy

The original punchline was "Now maybe if it were SUMMER..."

1/3/11

Wet

1/2/11

Another Annoying Beginning

If you compare this Moerlin Transformation strip with the last one, you'll see that I thinned Moerlin in the panel before the punch line quite a bit.

Charlie Really IS Insane!

Happy 1-1-11, everyone! Like always (except 2009), new year, new font!

The title is a repeated title of Charlie Is Insane.

I think Charlie in the third panel is the craziest drawing of him I have ever done.

12/26/10

Lily Sure Is Patient

This is a repeated title of Lily Sure Is Smart and Lily Sure Is Greedy. This is going to be the last strip this year–I didn't think of the rest of this week's strips fast enough (But there will be a strip on New Year's).

12/25/10

Ponder...

I wanted to do something a bit different this Christmas. I wanted to show that Christmas isn't just about the presents, but still include them in the strip somehow. Once I knew what I wanted, the strip pretty much happened by itself.

12/24/10

Z Again

The title is a repeated title of Z, where Moe also draws a big Z on the wall over his head (in the same spot, too!). But that time it was to get him to sleep. This time it's to fool his mom.

12/23/10

He REALLY Passed Out In The Last Panel

Don't go searching for last year's Christmas strip where Moe passes out for lack of yadda yadda yadda. It doesn't exist.

12/21/10

No X-Ray

12/20/10

12/19/10

Nice Try, Moe!

If you look closely at the thought translator, you won't see a line (representing no thought, or a silent sound wave) in the screen. If it's on, it'll be there.

12/18/10

12/17/10

12/15/10

His Head Is Smashed Into the Ground Again!

I say "again" in the title because Julia smashed Moe's head into the ground in Uper-say Uper-day E-day X-ay Our-fay Ousand-thay.

12/14/10

He Bumped His Head Hard

The title is an unintentional repeated title of He Hit His Head Hard.

12/13/10

12/12/10

12/11/10

Dog and Tree? ...You Know the Drill.

The title is a repeated title of Dog and Fire Hydrant? ...You Know the Drill. My original title was going to be, "Look away, everyone!" But then I thought of that time Merlin did this to the Nermian fire hydrant, and I subconsciously decided to make this title a repetition of that one.

12/10/10

12/9/10

...I Hope

12/8/10

12/6/10

Yay!

It took a while for me to think of a good Christmas opener strip, considering how simple it is.

12/5/10

12/4/10

Wings!

I've had this idea for a while, but not long enough to qualify as a "long-lost."

12/3/10

Finshake

12/2/10

FAINT

"Wow! Then the movies could be installed directly into our brains!"

12/1/10

SDH

I've had this idea literally for a couple years (the blog was up when I had it, so it wasn't THAT long ago). This is why it's listed as LONG-LOST.

11/29/10

Snatch!

Yes, I know I've had Bubbles talk in a past strip. That was an accident.

11/28/10

Meanie

11/27/10

Watch Your Language, Moe!

This is the third time we've seen Moe's blue eyes.

11/24/10

He's Drooling Again

The title is a repeated title of He's Drooling.
