This is just a really weird strip. It may not make a whole lot of sense, but I think it's funny, and I wanted to draw it. The original punch line was "canned cheese." But since shoes aren't something you eat, I thought it would be funny to do this.

Merlin's Childhood

Yes, the green cat in the last panel is Bob! Did you know that this is the first strip where there is more than one shade of the same color? Yup! Orange (logo box and where Merlin eats his ear) and red. The red change is very subtle. The two shades are the shade of Moe's pants (also the background of the last panel) and the red behind the fish tank. There is also a different shade of skin color. Behind the dad dog's glasses.

The term "only dog" is a term taken from a late 1950s Peanuts strip.

Boring, Yet Fun

Have you noticed that the last panel is a little like some FoxTrot strips? I wasn't sure if I should draw some other people doing other stuff, like Julia reading, or Mom sewing, or something.

About Our New Poll

Just letting you know what we're going to be doing when the results of our poll are posted. To start, here are our current results:

Change the description: 0 votes
Add a shadow: 1 vote
Keep it the way it is: 2 votes
I have my own idea: 0 votes

If I voted on my own polls, I would pick "redraw Moe."

Anyway, if the most votes are on "keep it the way it is" (which it currently is), that's exactly what we're going to do. If keep it the way it is is tied with another vote...we'll think about that. Anyway, if more votes are on another vote, we'll do that, plus all the other suggestions votes on (except the "don't change it" votes).

So, if our poll were to end the minute you finish reading this (what are the chances of that?!), then we would just keep the logo the way it is.

We Can See the Pens!

I had to take a photo of each of the pens, duplicate it so that it was 3 photos, crop each photo, take out the background, bring them into the strip, resize, and rotate each pen for the strip. I didn't draw them...I can't draw like that.

Today we will post our new poll and old poll results. We promise!

Wait a Minute...

Uh-oh! The pen is running out. We're gonna hold off coloring and inking until we find a good substitute, but it won't be easy!

The first panel was mostly done with my old substitute pen. Yup, it's running out. The second panel was done with my blue-line pencil (not my blue colored pencil), even though I don't do blue-lines very often. The last one was don with my Sharpie. That's the new pen, because it's colored again.

I.W.M.A. is sorry for the recent lack of poll results, so we will try to get out our results and new poll today.

I'm sorry, but the right side of the last panel is cut off a little bit. I didn't know how to fix it. Hey, it was my first time scanning in on the new scanner! And today I'll hopefully be able to do it better. It's okay, there wasn't really anything except green in the cut off section.

COLOR!!

The colors in the second panel that were shot out by the computer were done on the computer.

The little paper-texture background is back, but is lighter, which actually affects the other colors slightly.

Strange Pose

This came from me trying to think of a joke for this strip. I guess the real joke is in the last panel, but you have to read the first two to be able to understand why he's in that pose.

You'll notice that the strips are slightly smaller, too.

He's Already Two?!

Notice how the background looks different? That's because this was the first strip scanned into our new scanner onto our new computer.
