Display Items Not For Sale

Harry Potter fans should recognize the third amulet from the left!

Originally Moe's line was "Wow, for real?" Then I changed it to simply "For real?" But after I wrote his dialogue in the strip, I thought that sounded like he was wondering if they actually worked. So I had to white out his line and replace it with something that sounded a bit more skeptical.

Plus, the "Display Items Not For Sale" sign was a last-minute addition that I just thought would sound kind of funny.

Oh, Sneaky, Lily, Sneaky!

At first I was going to have Lily have installed a cloaking or disguising device on the Thought Translator and so it would turn into a ball. But I couldn't quite get Lily's line in that version to get right, so I changed it to this.

STARE...er.

This is a repeated title of STARE.

Also, today is our 1800th (!) post.

1/25/12

Oh, Good Grief!

The box says "Make Julia President of IWMA Fund."

1/23/12

Unfair Indeed

When I looked through my previous posts to see if this was a repeated title, I found out that this is the fourth time I have used this type of post title: The previous ones were:

1/22/12

Quoted Directly from the IWMA Encyclopedia

I mostly made this strip to tie up a few loose ends I had hanging. When I made the last two strips, I suddenly realized that it would kind of counter some of the ideas I had already posted about the Twinkie.

1/21/12

Accidental Dimension Entering?

Moe's talking about either this strip or this strip. I guess they could be the same event, now that I think about it...

And The Phrase Has Manifested Itself True!

I thought of this when I was writing the title for a previous Sure Sign of the Apocalypse.

You're Trying To Make Me Go Faster, Aren't You?!

Actually, an Orange Bird really has been released by now for Angry Birds.

1/17/12

What, Have I Been Playing Angry Birds That Whole Time?

Actually, by the time I drew this strip, I really hadn't drawn a strip for almost a week.

1/15/12

Kind Of Like Dropping Him Off At a Friend's House

Bill Watterson was right; the Sunday strips with less restrictive layouts do take longer to make.

1/14/12

Blow Up

Actually, this was the first strip for this week I thought of. I thought it worked better at the end of the week, though, so I put it here.

1/13/12

Oh, Now We're Getting Astronomical?!

I was going to include "dwarf planets" in Thidwick's line in the first panel, but I, for some reason, decided to get rid of it.

Also, I found out that the planets will not align in 2012. I found out online that there will be a kind of alignment in 2040, where Saturn, Venus, Jupiter, and Mars will appear to be aligned in the sky. And on June 13, 2010, Uranus, Jupiter, and Mercury were aligned on one side of the Sun, and Venus, Mars, and Saturn were aligned on the other side, and Earth was perpendicular to the Sun then.

Does that mean that the apocalypse should have happened then?

Unanimously Voted?!

When I was trying to think of another person to put on a chair, I suddenly thought of Tom. Instead of showing him, I just figured I'd hint that he's slumped down in his chair covered in red paint.

I love doing stuff with Tom.

When Pigs Fly

This is another one of those semi-rare times I've shown Gwendolyn's back.

1/10/12

Moe Wants Me To Do That?!

This has a double Apocalyptic event: first, Moe wants me to stop the strip. Second, I agreed to do what Moe asked me to.

1/9/12

GASP!

Hey, what can I say? It's 2012, so I thought I'd do some "signs of the Apocalypse" strips.

1/8/12

That's Not a Good Wish

The character in the talk bubble is the Chinese character for "snore." I'm really not sure why I decided to do that, but I did.

Julia Just Butted Into Our Conversation

Looking back over the previous Comics Vs. Me strips, I realized that this is probably the first time I've stood up for myself.

The ending for this strip pretty much happened on its own–I put it in because I thought it would logically follow; basically I let the flow of the story define itself.

I always enjoy doing the Comics Vs. Me strips; it's pretty fun to create several panels of just back-and-forth dialogue between me and Moe.

1/4/12

Oh, I See Where You're Going With This...

In case you're wondering, Moe really did predict I'd miss 114 strips in 2011, because it was double the amount of strips I missed in 2010.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnndddddddddddd...IT'S 2012!!

Happy New Year from I.W.M.A.!

I would make the post text a new font like I've done in the past, but I started using the Google Chrome browser last year, and changing the fonts doesn't work on it, for some reason.

And here's the 2012 logo box! Here are links to the past ones, in case you're interested:
