They DO Look Related

The reason all three fish/merfish look the same is, well, that's the only fish I know how to draw.

It's Radiating Good Job Rays on Them!

I tried as hard as I could to try to make it look like the urchin was shining on Nemo and Bubbles in panel 3. Do you think I succeeded?

Now SHE'S Blushing

I was originally thinking of just having her hair just contain as much as it looked like it could, when I drew Monday's strip. But then I drew the mermaid-goes-inside-Nemo's-tail-fin-cartoons, and then it suddenly occurred to me to give the same properties I gave his tail fin to the mermaids' hair, just like I gave the same properties to Merlin's ears and Bob's tail.

BURGLAR ALERT. BURGLAR ALERT. BWAAP! BWAAP! BURGLAR ALERT. BWAAP! BWAAP!

I thought it'd be kind of funny to give Nemo's tail fin the same properties as Snoopy's doghouse. Small on the outside, huge on the never-seen inside.

He's Blushing

As I said on Sunday, it's getting harder to think of urchin jokes. So I switched to this temporarily and let my comic strip brain gears go in a different direction.

He Seems Stubborn

I was originally going to have a silent second panel, and then have Bubbles just go "AAAAUUUUUUGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" in the third. But something about the joke I actually used seemed funnier, so I changed the original to this and added the caption to the 3rd panel.

Oh. So He Doesn't Have 666 Urchins.

It's getting hard to think of urchin jokes.

As a side note, this is the blog's 1200th post!

Wait, He Has 666 Urchins?

I used the numbers 13 and 666 on purpose. Both are considered unlucky numbers (sometimes, at least, for 13).

It's not very easy to create actual hand poses with bare fins. That's why I change them to tiny (or sometimes enormous) hands whenever necessary.

I thought it'd be interesting that Nemo puts his urchins in his tail fin. But where does Bubbles hide his? Find out tomorrow!

She Has Urchins In Her Eyes!

He's using a new stopwatch, so I colored it purple instead of yellow.

I like the urchins in her eyes. They're like the cliché of the $s in someone's eyes.

What's With the Halo?

I've wanted to use the name Chip for a little while.

3/8/10

Humaid?

I was originally going to have him shout "WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING?" but I can't remember what made me change my mind.

3/6/10

Besides the joke, what is the funniest/best thing about a comic strip?

I was thinking "the timing." I also like the interaction.

Check out our new poll!

Eat my Bubbles!

"Eat my bubbles" came, as far as I know, from Finding Nemo.
