Yeah What?

In my original idea, the last two panels weren't in the joke. But I added them in anyway.

After the Feb-Mar story, I'll be taking a week-long break so that I can switch from drawing a week early to 4 weeks early.

Poll results and new poll hopefully coming soon.

Rock, NOT PAPER, NOT SCISSORS

Rock beats water, water beats tissue paper, and tissue paper beats rock.

157 More Announcements

Did you notice that the lower body of the announcer is always obscured? That way you can decide whether he's a fish or merfish yourself.

2/21/10

Is It A Fake?

On the panel directly below the logo box, I started using a new pen.

2/20/10

$2 Is Valuable?

I like how, even though the fish isn't actually SPEAKING, the microphone is still picking up his THOUGHTS. That's why the talk bubble is pointing to the microphone instead of the fish.

URCHIN COLLECTORS' GATHERING OF 2010

My mom came up with the idea of calling the mermaid Gwendolyn.

I have no idea why I like to label the podium PODIUM.

2/17/10

Again, Why IS That?

The title is a play on (a repeated title of) "Yeah, Why IS That?"

2/16/10

He Stubbed His Toe On One

In the original idea, Bubbles tripped over one, revealing the orange urchin. I decided that it would actually ruin the end of the story, so I continued to work out the idea until it evolved into this.

I think it's kind of interesting how one idea can eventually evolve into something totally different.

So...ALMOST Nothing?

Originally, I was thinking about having them both say, "Except possibly that (mermaid/merfish) next door." I can't really remember what made me change my mind.

2/12/10

I See $$ in His Eyes!

No, the grand prize isn't money.

2/9/10

That's a LOT of Sea Urchins!

The title is a sub-conscious repeated title of "That's a LOT of Twisty Puzzles!" When I saw the original title, the strip it was for came rushing back to me. Since the panel-spanning collection was so similar, I thought I'd change it to fit this strip.

2/8/10

No Humans Allowed

It took me a minute to think of the name of the street the Gathering would be on. Then I decided to use something from Nemo.

2/7/10

Ah, the Next February-March Story.

It took me a while to think of a subject for this year's February-March story subject. It came to me because I was doodling with Nemo and Bubbles and sea urchins, and then it dawned on me.

Now I need to think of a way to drag out that doodle into a 7½-week story. Ah, well. In the store of life, I guess nothing's free.

2/6/10

I'll Take the Late-Double Post Combo, Please.

Originally in today's strip, we could see Bob smacking Thidwick's back and chuckling in the next panel.

2/3/10

So, A Fish Drowns When It Breathes...Air?

Sometimes (as in the case of this strip), when thinking of a comic strip joke, I just pick a subject, let my mind wander, and see what happens.

Watch the broom in each panel. She* keeps going up! After all, wood floats.

* Even though the broom is an inanimate object, even I've gotten into the habit of calling the broom a "her!"

2/2/10

It Looks Like The _.I.T.M. Craze is Over

The title means that it doesn't look like there will be any more "___ in the Morning".

2/1/10

Yeah, Why IS That?

I'm not really sure where I first heard Mama's response in the first panel. She's thinking "oops" because of the problems that response could open up. Like the one Thidwick addresses.
